Guidelines and Policies

 

 
IMMEDIATE DISCHARGE

*Being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs

*Possession of alcohol/drugs

*Possession of weapons

*Threats either verbal or physical, or acts of violence, fighting

*Property destruction or altering the physical construction of the premises, including interior walls

*Failure to submit a U/A (which are always at your cost)

*Unaccountable or discrepancies in times off of premises

*Lies, either found on your intake paperwork or otherwise, stealing, unusual behavior, and any criminal activity

*Failure to comply with rules and/or staff directions

 

***All rent submitted is forfeited by default if you are terminated from the property for violation of the House Guidelines and Policies.  Nor will any rent submitted be pro rated due to your moving out before a week is up.  All $100.00 deposits are non refundable entry fees.****

1. You are required to attend a 12-Step meeting (AA or NA) 5 NIGHTS per week, have a program book, (Big Book, NA Text, etc.).  All house members with less than 30 days residency are required to have a meeting slip signed by a member of the group, and not another resident.  All house members are required to attend on-premises "House Meetings" which are held 2 times per week, 1-2 hours per meeting.

2. House meeting attendance is mandatory, (which means you must arrange for employment and other activities that does not interfere with these meetings), there are no exceptions to this rule.

3. For the first 30 days you are to be in the house by 10 pm, each night of the week.   After 30 days you may be granted an extended curfew to 11pm Sunday-Thurs, and Midnight on Friday and Saturday.  This is at the discretion of the house manager based on your overall progress and conduct.

4. For the full duration of your residency you are required to sign-out when leaving the premises, and sign-in upon return- all leaves must be pre-approved by the house manager in advance, and any inconsistencies in leave times are grounds for discharge.  If you are going to be later than 30 minutes from your estimated time of return (ETR) you must call the house and notify the house members.

5. $95.00 rent must be paid every Friday between 9 and 10pm. directly to the house manager, and kept up to date without exception.  All late rent will incur a $20.00 late charge.  Any rent and late charges not paid by 8pm the following Monday will result in your having to leave the house until you can afford to pay it.  72 hours is the maximum amount of time a bed will be held for you to obtain your rent.  This rule will apply to new house members, who enter without employment at the beginning of their 3rd week of residency.

 6. You must see the house manager at least 1 time per week to discuss your recovery program- it does not count as a visit to discuss program while paying rent, unless the house manager chooses to do so.

7. You must obtain a Home Group and a Sponsor (You must provide a contact name and phone number), within the first week of residency, and this will be verified.

8. You must have Steps 1,2, and 3 in writing, and present these in the House Meeting by the 3rd week, along with a copy to the house manager.

9. You are required to be employed full time, (40 hours per week).  Self employment is not acceptable without business license, general liability insurance, ownership of a vehicle, and/or 40 verifiable scheduled hours of work each week. Day labor agencies and inconsistent jobs of less than 40 hours are not accepted as “employed”.

10. There are certain types of employment that are not allowed, and you must speak with the house manager prior to accepting employment with any place.  (o cab driving, working in bars, clubs, or places that sell alcohol.)

12. Your room must be kept neat, with your bed made at all times, rugs vacuumed, toilet cleaned, kitchen area clean, which means absolutely no glasses, dishes, forks, knives, spoons, etc. left in the sink at any time, and any trash disposed of in a timely manner.

13. You will be assigned daily and weekend chores (these are mandatory as part of your stay).  You are to do your part to keep bathrooms clean, by not leaving any personal belongings in them, clean up any mess left in sink, toilet, on floor, etc.  Kitchen area is to be kept clean at all times.  Which means no glasses, forks, knives, spoons, etc, left in sink at any time, and any trash disposed of in a timely manner.  Floors cleaned daily and counter tops wiped after each use.

14. All vehicles will have current tags and insurance, and this must be verifiable. Also, there will be no storage of vehicles, and no working on vehicles on the premises.

15. Any situation that requires police involvement must be discussed with the house manager before the police are called, (any police involvement without house manager approval will be grounds for discharge).

16. There are absolutely no visitors allowed on premises without prior approval from the house manager.  All visitors are to leave the property by 10pm, every night of the week, no exceptions.

17. Music, TV and conversations will be kept to a reasonable level that does not disturb other house residents, or our neighbors. 

18. No one is allowed in another resident’s room- period.

19. There is to be no sharing of clothes, personal property, loaning money, borrowing vehicles, including bikes by house residents.

20. You may be requested to submit to a U/A (drug/alcohol test) at any time, which may be required with or without cause.  Any argument or refusal to submit to either alcohol or drug testing will result in immediate discharge from the house.

Also, another resident may request someone to be tested if a person’s behavior warrants it.

21. Any resident who is aware of a rules infraction and does not notify the house manager immediately will be subject to discharge, which includes finding out later that you knew about it.

22. All rooms are subject to inspections at any given time, and any room that does not pass inspection may cause all residents in that room to have earned privileges revoked, and a $10.00 fine incurred against all room residents.  Repeated inspection failures are likely to result in discharges from the Miracles In Progress Recovery House.

23. Smoking is not allowed in any part of the house.  All smoking is to be done outside the house and all cigarette butts are to be discarded in the butt cans placed at the front and back of the house.  Should you be caught smoking in the house, for the first offense you will incur a $25.00 fine, for a second offense you will be discharged from the house immediately.

 24. There will be no unauthorized modifications to the house TV cable or phone lines.  All extensions, add-on’s etc. must be approved by the house manager prior to making any changes in the current set up.  Any changes desired by house residents and approved by the house manager will be done at the resident’s expense.

 25. Phones, both house and personal cell phones are to be used in a manner that does not disturb other house members.  Loud phone talk is not acceptable in a group living environment, so its important you keep your voice level down while on the phone.  There are no incoming or outgoing calls allowed after 11pm Sunday-Thursday.

26. Any cooking done by residents requires immediate clean-up.  Failure to clean dishes, pots, pans, wipe counter tops or table, etc, could result in a $5.00 fine and earned privileges revoked.

27. Any delegation, assignment, or request that is made by house manager is not merely a suggestion, it is a directive that needs to be adhered to without argument immediately or within the time frame specified.

28. Any medical conditions and/or injuries must be brought to the attention of the house manager.

29. If there is an emergency, call 911, and then notify the house manager immediately.

 30.  During each week’s House Manager Session you are required to disclose any and all medications you are taking, either prescribed or over-the-counter and at the House Managers discretion your meds will be inventoried.

31. House shut downs will occur if chores are not done, the grounds and buildings are not cared for, rooms are not kept clean, or general attitudesare not in line with house etiquette, and is done so at the discretion of the house manager.

32. All rules and regulations are subject to additions and changes at the house manager’s discretion.

33.  At any time you are on the house telephone and there is a incoming call beeping through, you are to place your call on hold and take a message from the incoming caller for other house residents.  Failure to do this will result in $10.00 fine and your phone privileges being revoked for a specified period of time.

34.  All residents are to refrain from any and all sexually intimate relationships (including general dates) until they have obtained six (6) months of continuous sobriety/clean time.  After which should you begin dating members of either AA or NA they too will be required to have 6 months of sobriety/clean time for you to date or be intimately involved with them.  Should you be legally married upon your entrance into the house, it will be determined by the House Manager and/or Director what level of involvement or activity you have with your spouse.  Violation of this policy will result in termination from Miracles In Progress Recovery House.

This is not a complete list of all the possible rules and/or violations that may happen, so to insure a healthy, happy, drug and alcohol free recovery environment please do your part to use common sense when it comes to either doing or not doing something that may affect yours and others continued stay.

**I have read and understand the Miracles In Progress Recovery House Guidelines and Policies statement.  I understand that my residency with Miracles In Progress Recovery House is transitional.  I also understand that upon acceptance and entrance into the house I waive all legal rights as a tenant.  I accept that I can be discharged from the premises immediately without due process of law, should it be determined by the House Manager or Director to be in the best interest of the house and/or other house members.  Should I refuse to leave the premises immediately upon discharge the local police dept. will be called to escort me off the property.
